temper tantrum at grocery storeLast week I introduced two stances on using bribery with kids. I loved hearing from you about if and when bribing your kids is OK. It seems we’ve all been there at least a time or two, just hoping to survive the rest of the grocery shopping before total meltdown ensues.

There is no inherent problem to rewarding our kids for good behavior. In fact, the best way to encourage more of a behavior we like is to reward it, while the best way to discourage a behavior we don’t like is to ignore it (not punish). The problem with bribery is more a result of how we reward a behavior, not that we do it at all.
